I write under the broad umbrella of speculative fiction, i.e. science fiction and fantasy. Although you would think I would be more comfortable in science fiction (after all, I’m quite versed in the science part), I’m most at home in fantasy.
In no particular order, here are some things I enjoy writing about:
- histories that didn’t happen, but feel like they could have
- people trying to be their best selves in trying circumstances
- people falling in luuurve
- characters who are people, even if they aren’t human
- people who are human, even if other people don’t see them that way
- re-imaginings of fairy tales
- generation ships
- dragons
